Pat Sauer

Pat Sauer was elected Treasurer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Department of Hawaii, on June 20, 2026, during the 67th Department Convention held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

 Pat has been a Life Member of the Lance Corporal Hayward Kimo Hamili Peleiholani Auxiliary to VFW Post 3830 in Pahoa, Hawaii, since 2011. She joined the Auxiliary under the eligibility of her father, Ernest W. Wright, who proudly served during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action.

Pat’s involvement with the VFW Auxiliary began much earlier as a member of the Junior Girls in 1962. She held her first elected office as Treasurer of Auxiliary 4399 in Elgin, Oregon in 1968.

 Throughout her years of service, Pat has demonstrated her commitment to the organization by serving in numerous leadership roles, including President, Senior Vice President, Jr. Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Her dedication to the Auxiliary reflects her passion for serving veterans, mentoring members, and strengthening the organization.

Professionally, Pat has built a successful career in nonprofit management, accounting, and technology. In 2001, she became Executive Director of the National Emu Association. She currently works remotely as a Web Developer and Database Administrator for a natural product wholesale company based in Connecticut. Her extensive professional background also includes serving as Office Manager and Accountant for an environmental engineering firm in Moscow, Idaho, and as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for an oilfield support company in Alaska.

Pat is passionate about her volunteer service with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She believes every veteran deserves the respect, recognition, and benefits they have earned through their service and sacrifice. She is committed to ensuring that future generations "Never Forget, that Freedom is Not Free”!
