Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann Thomas was elected President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the
United States Department of Hawai'i Auxiliary on June 20, 2026, at the 67th Auxiliary State
Convention held at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
Jackie earned her VFW Auxiliary eligibility from her husband (Ralph Thomas) who served in
the United States Air Force in Kandahar, South West Asia, Turkey and Honduras
She became a Life member of the Auxiliary in 2018 at VFW Auxiliary 3850 in Kihei, Hawai'i.
Jackie has served in elected and appointed positions and committees at the Post and Department levels including;

2018-2022 – Guard, Jr, Vice and Senior Vice
2022 – Legislative Chair
Department of Hawaii Auxiliary

2025-2026 – Sr. Vice President
Jackie received her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs,
and her Doctorate in Nursing from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, and is currently
undertaking her PhD in Nursing at UH Mānoa as a doctoral student and researcher focused on
nursing workforce resilience and rural health disparities.
Jackie is an Assistant Professor in the nursing program at UH-Maui College, and a senior
adjunct faculty member in the graduate nursing program at Hawai'i Pacific University. She is
President-Elect 2026/President 2027-2029, for the Emergency Nurses Association – Hawai'i
(ENA-HI) and also a member of several professional nursing organizations.
Jackie and Ralph currently reside in Kihei, Hawai'i.
