Ronald Schaedel
National Councilmember - Marines

Ronald Howard Schaedel Sr. was elected State National Councilmember of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Department of Hawaii on June 22, 2024 at the 86th VFW Department of Hawaii Convention in Honolulu Hawaii.

Ron H. Schaedel served in the United States Marine Corps from1966 to 1993.  He last Served with the Marine Aircraft Group 24.  Ron earned his VFW eligibility serving in The Republic of Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm/Shield.

 In recognition of his service, he received:  Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, USMC Good Conduct Medal (7), Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Drill Instructor Ribbon,  Marine Corps Reserve Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Presidential Unit Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Civic Action Unit Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, KLM(Saudi Arabia, KLM (Kuwait).

 He became a Life member of the VFW in 1987, and currently maintains his Life membership at VFW Post Number 10276 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ron has served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, and Department levels.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

 Ron received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma

 Ron is retired from the City and County of Honolulu and involved in numerous community organizations. 

Ron and his wife, Homelani currently reside in Kapolei , Hawaii.
